The Pottawattamie County Secondary Roads Department is responsible for all construction, maintenance, repair, widening, resurfacing and reconstruction of pavements, bridges, and culverts on the county highway system.Pottawattamie County comprises 959 square miles, second largest in the State of Iowa. The Secondary Roads Department has 251 paved two-lane miles and 1231 unpaved two-lane miles with 346 bridges, 1700+ culverts 48″ in diameter and larger, and approximately 17,000 signs.

We have 59 employees and 10 maintenance shops:
Avoca, Caledonia, Carson, Central, Hancock, Honey Creek, Keg Creek, Lewis, Underwood, Walnut

County Annual Tax Sale

EMA CodeRed

The CodeRED system serves all residents within Pottawattamie County and it Communities.

The Pottawattamie County Emergency Management Agency has implemented Emergency Communications Network's CodeRED system, a high-speed notification solution and the CodeRED Weather Warning service. This no-charge service is available to businesses.
