Lost Animal Information:
If you have a lost dog in Pottawattamie County, you should contact the Pottawattamie County Animal Shelter at (712) 366-1143. Leave a detailed description of the dog, the area where the dog was lost, and your name and phone number where you can be reached. Adopting a Dog from the County Animal Shelter:
Adoption Fee: $125.00
All dogs over 4 months that are adopted from the Shelter are:
- Spayed or Neutered
- Have received all their shots, including a Rabies vaccination
- Have a registered microchip
People who adopt a puppy are given a certificate which is good for spay or neutering, and a rabies vaccination. This certificate is used at a later date, usually when the dog is 4-6 months old.
