Part-Time Registered Nurse - Job Description
Environmental Educator Intern Position
DESCRIPTION: Approximately 400 hours internship between May and August 2008 (as school schedule permits) to assist with environmental education programs for the Pottawattamie County Conservation Board, particularly summer day camps at Hitchcock Nature Center and Arrowhead Park. Educator intern will assist the Program Manager in development and implementation of programming for the Pottawattamie County Conservation Board. Major duties include providing programs and supervising youth at summer day camps; assisting in the development and evaluation of programs, assisting at the welcome desk at the Loess Hills Lodge interpretive facility and promotion of PCCB programs. Educator must be independent with excellent organizational skills. Educator will receive valuable practical experience and continuing education during employment.
QUALIFICATIONS: Either be enrolled in or have a degree in one of the following fields: education, environmental education/interpretation, natural resources, wildlife biology, or biology/ecology/environmental studies.
REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid drivers license at time of hire. The educator should be prepared to start as soon as possible in May. Non-standard workweek that may include holidays, evenings and weekends. Professionalism and good public relations are essential, as is time management.
SALARY: $8.00-$9.00 per hour, depending on experience.

HawkWatch Counter
The Pottawattamie County Conservation Board is seeking a qualified individual to serve as the official HawkWatch Counter for this year’s Hitchcock HawkWatch. This position is a temporary, non-exempt position and pays $10/hour with an average of 30 hours worked per week. Normally hours are worked during the regular work week when volunteers are unable to staff the HawkWatch. The position runs from September 1, 2008 until December 15, 2008.
Essential Job Duties:
The employee will be responsible for identifying and counting migrating raptors, preparing reports, and assisting with bird-related environmental education at the Hitchcock Nature Center. For additional job duties, see attached job description.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of and the ability to learn migration patterns of raptors, and related birds.
Considerable skill in the identification of migrating birds in flight. Ability to work long days and early morning starts, if situation presents itself. Ability to climb stairs and perform job duties on the top level of the 45’ observation tower.

Public Safety CAD Support Tech
Pottawattamie County is announcing a hiring process for the position of Public Safety CAD Support Tech. This process will be conducted according to the following schedule and qualifications listed below.
Essential Job Duties:
The Public Safety CAD Support Tech provides computer support and training to all Public Safety personnel in Pottawattamie County, as assigned. This position will assist with the support of computer hardware and core software such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Mobile Data Computers (MDC) and Fire Records Management Systems (FRMS).

Minimum Qualifications:
Programming specifics within these areas may include, but are not limited to these areas of experience: Perl, PHP, HTML, XML; CSH, BASH, KORN; SQL. Applicants must have knowledge of the Linux operating system, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office software suite. Applicants must have experience with AS400 systems, and with data, voice, and radio communications equipment and facilities. Applicants must possess strong critical-thinking, problem solving skills and a logical mindset. Programming experience with libraries, functions, classes, modules and compilation preferred. Experience with Pick operating systems and databases as well as telecommunication issues preferred.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field required or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of hire and maintain it throughout the course of employment.
