Pottawattamie County Section Corner Naming Convention:
Pottawattamie County defers to the North and East of a section when naming a corner. For example, we would name a corner 75-43-35-NE before naming it 75-43-25-SW. In that example we used the NE of section 35 instead of the SW of section 25. We only break this rule when we are at the southern or western portions of our county when we have to use S or W otherwise we’d be spilling over into the adjacent county or state.

Note: You will notice that the recorded section corner certificate link does not indicate which corner it links to. They are named by Township-Range-Section, so you may receive many results for one corner search. If so, you will have to open and close several corner certificates to find the corner you need.

The Pottawattamie County Recorder has been scanning the recorded Section Corner Certificates since November 1, 2002. The search results will have a link to the recorded certificate. Certificates recorded earlier than November 1, 2002 were scanned in the spring of 2005 and are included in the Pre-11/2002 Certificates section.
