Mission Statement:
It is the mission of the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office to fairly enforce the laws of the State of Iowa for the citizens of Pottawattamie County. This mission will be adhered to with the highest level of courtesy, commitment, integrity and professionalism.

Further, it is our mission to provide services to the citizens of Pottawattamie County as well as provide effective Law Enforcement; safe, humane and secure jails; and security to our courts and Judicial System.

Organization:
The Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office consists of 46 sworn deputies, 92 detention officers and 8 civilian support staff. The Road Patrol Division is responsible for patrolling approximately 1000 square miles of roads within the county, as well as, approximately 88,000 residents. The Jail Division operates a 288 bed direct supervision jail facility. The Jail is a secure detention facility holding pre-trial detainees as well as male and female sentenced inmates. The Jail receives new bookings directly from Sheriff's Patrol and other county law enforcement agencies such as the Council Bluffs Police Department, the Carter Lake Police Department, the Avoca Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
